1. How do you describe yourself as an artist?
I'm a soul-rooted musician. 20+ years in gospel and lyrical hip-hop.
2. What's the best part of your job?
Connecting with people through music!
3. What's the best advice that you can give to someone who is exploring your career?
Quincy Jones' advice: study the music of artists you love, and you'll find your own style; you won't sound like them. I'll add, perfect your craft, and be clear on the separation between art and commerce. Bruce Swedien said, "Money doesn't talk to music, and music doesn't talk to money."
4. What does socializing with purpose mean to you?
I seek out likeminded people, ideologically and artistically, and 9 times out of 10, mutual purpose takes care of itself.
