Lavelle Young


Lavelle Young is a proud Milwaukee native and a self starter. He is the Founder and CEO of Young Development Group, 
where he is leading the redevelopment of the Milwaukee Martin Luther King Jr. Library. He is passionate about economic 
empowerment, equitable economic development, and community wealth creation. In 2015, he was recognized as University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Outstanding Student Leader of the 
Year for his leadership roles. 
In the years 2017-2019, Lavelle served as the Statewide Chairman of the Democratic Black Caucus of Wisconsin, Political Advocacy Co-Chair for the Milwaukee Urban League Young Professionals, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha LINC Committee and Board Treasurer for the New Economy Credit Union. He is also an alumnus of other reputable programs such as New Leaders Council, Cardinal Stritch University African American Leadership Program, LISC’s Associates of Commercial Real Estate and United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha ProjectLEAD. 

Outside of his Development Company, Lavelle continues to serve as a Board Member of Public Allies Milwaukee, Team Lead for the African American Leadership Alliance of Milwaukee Sustainability Circle, and Founder of Building Blocks in Bronzeville, a Community Wealth Building Initiative. Through his leadership roles, Lavelle has acquired a broad range of skills 
such as crafting innovative solutions, strategizing and planning, organizing, and project management. Lavelle has committed himself to using these skills and talents to improve the quality of life for citizens of the Greater Milwaukee community. He believes that leadership should be done by example and should foster a chain reaction which will create a pipeline of future leaders.
